Calculation and Analysis of Pile-Cap in a Cable-Stayed Bridge with Single Pylon
Pile-cap is the main load bearing component in the bridge substructure. It has the function of connecting the superstructure and substructure, so its safety is quite crucial. And in the pile foundation, the behavior of pile-cap under force is complicated. In this paper, a highway cable-stayed bridge is taken as an example. The computation of the pile-cap in this bridge has been conducted based on the method in the specifications, including the bearing capacity computation of normal section, sloping section and punching resistance. And the bearing capacity of normal section has been computed based on the strut-tie theory. The punching resistance capacity has been computed by pier punching downward and pile punching upward. According to the computation results, the bearing capacity of pile-cap's normal section, sloping section and punching resistance meet the requirements of specifications.
