Improving the Statistical Quality of Pseudo-Random Number Generators by Using Multiply-With-Carry
This study evaluates the statistical properties of pseudo-random number generators (PRNGs) that use the multiply-with-carry method. This method is applied to the linear congruential generator (LCG), which is a well-known method in the literature, and it is heavily used by the software industry. The statistical properties of this PRNG are evaluated using two famous tests: PractRand and TestU01. Evaluation results confirmed that the statistical properties of the LCG PRNG are improved by using the multiply-with-carry method.
