Research on the performance of base asphalt mixture for application in pouring semi flexible pavement
Based on the asphalt mixture gradation volume design method and successful design gradation range applied in the previous testing road, three kinds of composite gradation passing rates were designed for comparative research. In this work, we taking the pouring semi-flexible pavement base asphalt mixture sfac20 as an example. According to different single-side compaction tests, including 50 times, 75 times, 100 times and 125 times, the standard Marshall specimens were prepared. The experimental parameters of the best compaction times and the best composite gradation were also investigated Polyester fiber and high viscosity agent, were selected as two additives. When the admixture amount was 3%, the admixture method was single admixture or compound admixture. The performance of the mixture was evaluated by comprehensive indexes such as Marshall stability, flow value, porosity, Cantabro Test, Schellenberg Binder Drainage Test, asphalt mixture uniaxial penetration test and grouting rate. With the increase of compaction times, the mixture tests of the three gradation types showed the same change trend. The best results were obtained when the single side compaction was 75 times. When the number of compaction exceeds 75 times, the embedded structure of the mixture was easy to be broken. When polyester fiber was mixed with high viscosity and the dosage was both 0.3%, the indexes of the mixture exhibited better performance compared with other control groups, especially the results of Cantabro Test. The test results are expected to provide a reference for the design of matrix asphalt mixture of cast-in-place semi-flexible pavement and promote the better engineering application of semi flexible pavement.
