Stages of Hydrogen Implementation for a Green City of the Future
A city of the future have to be ecological, alongside the generally valid, social and economic requirements. Green hydrogen satisfies the limiting conditions for the first stage of use of CO2 emissions, with tendencies to achieve decarbonization in the future. The paper analyzed the results that can be obtained regarding the injection of hydrogen into the urban methane network, with initially small proportions, but increasing for the future. Residential heating, cooking fuel, but also transports with a mixture of methane gas and hydrogen are considered. The use of fuel cells is a cost-effective solution for urban transport compared to that based on electric batteries, and the heat release of fuel cell technology and an efficient application for residential heating. For the production of electricity, including in cogeneration mode, the gas turbine solution was the most adequate, as they can work both with a mixture of methane and hydrogen and with hydrogen.
