The proposed action consists of construction of a new courthouse and federal office building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, having a gross area of approximately 322,686 square feet in basement, sub-basement, eight stories and penthouse. The new facility will exert a positive influence on the development and redevelopment of the community, since the site has been cleared of unsightly, substandard buildings. The new facility will improve agency housing, increase the effectiveness of agency operations and provide greater convenience to the public and permit the release of privately owned leased space.
