    Special Impact Area. Overall Economic Development Plan and Implementation Program Report

    A portion of Erie County, New York has been designated by the Federal Economic Development Administration as an economically depressed or Special Impact Area. The municipalities included in the SIA include portions of the Cities of Buffalo, Lackawanna and Tonawanda; Towns of Cheektowaga, Hamburg and Tonawanda; and, the Village of Blasdell. The purpose of the study is to provide review of the major problems, opportunities, assests and potentials of the SIA, and to provide present goals and objectives along with alternate plans. The review resulted in an assessment of the area and definition of emerging trends in industry, employment, commerce, transportation, environment-utilities, housing, cultural resources, neighborhood facilities, citizen involvement, and government-legislation-finance.
