The report is intended to be a reference work. It provides basic data concerning the Hudson's Bay Company post and depot of Fort Vancouver. The data is needed for the preparation of working drawings for the reconstruction of this post. The report presents the historical and pictorial record of the physical form and the furnishings of the fort stockade and the structures within it as they stood in 1845, when the post was at the height of its development. The author has treated each building individually and reached judgements within the frame of reference of archeological findings and construction techniques employed at other Hudson's Bay Company posts. The report is professional in conception and execution. It includes recommendations with reference to each building studied, is well documented and generously illustrated with building diagrams, drawings, and illustrations. (Author)
