Wire Mesh Reinforcement of Bituminous Concrete Overlays
This report presents the results of an investigation that was initiated to evaluate the effectiveness of welded wire mesh in preventing or retarding reflection cracking in asphaltic surface courses of composite pavements and in asphaltic overlays of old concrete pavements. Principally, the effectiveness of the mesh was evaluated in terms of the percent of underlying joints or cracks which reflected through comparative reinforced and plain overlays.
