Behavior of Four Steel Lightweight Concrete Composite BEAMS under Long Lasting Loads Comportement de Quatre Poutres Mixtes Acier-Beton Leger Sous des Charges de Longue Duree
Four beams composed of steel and light concrete were tested during two years under constant loads. The beams were composed of an IPE 200 profile and a concrete plate. The tests show that: (1) the composite beams with light concrete have the same behavior as composed beams with normal concrete for short duration loads, (2) the creep coefficient, used for elastic calculation under long duration loads, is approximately 25% higher than the one for composite beams with normal concrete, and (3) the yield load of composite beams of steel and light concrete can be calculated in a simple manner where one assumes that the two materials are completely plastic upon rupture.
