A Plan for Regional Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Facilities
This report is an effort to establish guidelines for local governmental authorities in their efforts to provide a plan for the orderly development of regional parks, recreation and open space facilities in one of the most rapidly expanding metropolitan areas in South Carolina. Two areas of recommendations are made as a part of this study. The first is the recognition and development of a concept to fully utilize the region's most important natural resource--the mountain and wilderness areas. The second recommendation follows specific proposals needed to meet regional parks, recreation and open space facilities needs in the future. This report emphasizes that now is the time for planning, purchasing, and constructing public regional parks, recreation, and open space facilities to meet the present and future demand.
