Annual Housing Survey: 1978. Summary of Housing Characteristics for Selected Metropolitan Areas: Supplementary Report, No. 1
This report presents summary statistics on housing and household characteristics from the 1978 Annual Housing Survey for the United States, each of the four geographic regions, and 15 selected standard metropolitan statistical areas (SMSA's). Separate data are shown for the United States and each of the four geographic regions by inside and outside SMSA's. In addition, data inside metropolitan areas for the United States and regions and for each of the 15 SMSA's are shown separately for 'in central cities' and 'not in central cities.' Tabular data cover selected housing characteristics, characteristics of new construction units, 1975 characteristics of housing units removed from the housing inventory, characteristics of owner - and renter - occupied housing units by indicators of housing and neighborhood quality, and characteristics of units occupied by recent movers (households that moved into their unit during the 12 months prior to the interview). Data are broken down for housing units with black household heads and for units with household heads of Spanish origin. One appendix describes the geographic area classifications, provides definitions and explanations of the subjects covered in the report, and presents a facsimile of the Annual Housing Survey questionnaire. Another appendix provides information on sample design, estimation, and accuracy of the data.
