The report presents summary statistics on housing and household characteristics from the Annual Housing Survey (AHS) for the United States, each of the four geographic regions, and 15 selected standard metropolitan statistical areas (SMSA's). The Annual Housing Survey was designed to provide a current series of information on the size and composition of the housing inventory, the characteristics of its occupants, the changes in the inventory resulting from new construction and from losses, the indicators of housing and neighborhood quality, and the characteristics of recent movers.
