A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The report describes the Nordic project on recoating of facades. The substrate materials reviewed were wood, concrete, renderings and masonry and, to a lesser degree, coil coated steel and aluminium. The main emphasis was on the treatment of the substrate/coating combination. Moisture was the most important agent affecting the coated facade. The condition assessment and the surface preparation of the facade before the first coating and the recoating were especially stressed. (Copyright (c) Valtion teknillinen tutkimuskeskus (VTT) 1990.)
