A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Federal Office Building, Saginaw, Michigan
The building is proposed to serve as an environmental laboratory while meeting all the functions of a conventional building. The plans call for a solar collector thus reducing energy requirements from normal sources; a system to minimize the demand on the municipal water supply; and the extensive use of recycled materials for the building construction. Landscaped lawns and roof areas will be available for use by the residents of the area. The building will be designed to include many other innovative ideas in the environmental field. Ideas proven feasible by this project will be incorporated in other future projects, where feasible. Environmental impacts are discussed.
