Cost Reduction Methods for High Rise Apartments
The objective of the project is to demonstrate that significant reductions in the cost of low and moderate income high-rise housing can be achieved by developing building systems using existing materials and techniques not heretofore used in housing. In pursuit of this objective, many components of structure, enclosure, finish, and mechanical equipment were investigated and the most promising of these were tested in a Test Building. Results of this development will be employed in the construction of a high-rise Demonstration Building and will be documented and made accessible to all interested persons. The report documents the first two phases and part of the third of a three phase project. It represents a summary of the work done to date and is intended for general readership in the building industry. (Author)
