The dam, which is a 190-foot long, earthfill dam, was built in about 1884. The height of the dam, from the crest to the bottom of the stream bed, is 8.5 feet. The spillway is located in the middle of the dam , and consists of two overflow sections separated by a concrete wall. There is no emergency low level outlet to the pond. The following are visible signs of distress at the site: deterioration of the stoplogs in the east spillway; erosion at several locations on the embankments; growth of trees and brush on the crest and upstream slopes of the dam; a depression in middle of east embankment crest; missing and dislodged riprap on the upstream slopes; spalled concrete in the spillway structure and side walls; cracked inlet headwall of the box culvert, and accumulated debris in the discharge channel. With the stoplogs in place, the spillway can discharge 9 percent of the test flood outflow of 530 cfs. The test flood would overtop the dam by 0.8 feet. Without the stoplogs, the test flood outflow would be 140 cfs at El 161.0, and would not overtop the dam.
