A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Location Approval Project S-098-H, From Tallapoosa River to Dadeville, Tallapoosa County, Alabama
The proposed improvement of U.S. Highway 280, begins at the Tallapoosa River and running generally in the southeast direction to a point within the city limits of Dadeville on US-280 approximately 0.55 miles southeast of Buck Creek. The typical section being considered is a rural type facility, consisting of four lanes of pavement, implemented by constructing two additional lanes paralleling present US-280 and retaining the existing pavement. The length of the proposed project is about 8.0 miles. The negative effects are the acquisition of several acres of land, dislocation of several families and businesses, some erosion and water, noise, air pollution and destruction of some wildlife habitat. The positive effects are safer and more efficient transportation, improved social and economic opportunities, and a more aesthetically oriented highway.
