The purpose of the proposed facility is to provide an adequate structure over the Central of Georgia Railroad and to eliminate the geometrical inadequacy of certain segments of Alabama 49. The present outdated timber bridge over Central of Georgia Railroad has become deteriorated and is a potential hazard. The only adverse environmental effect that cannot be avoided by the implementation of this project would be the taking of lands for right of way purposes.
