Synthetic Aggregates of High Resistance to Polishing. Part 4-Specially Shaped Chippings
This report describes work that has been carried out to study the effect of the geometric shape of synthetic chippings on their performance in the road surface. It was found that, of the shapes studied, cylinders and hexagonal prisms gave the best texture-depth consistent with large surface area of aggregate at the road surface. The effect of a range of differently shaped chippings on the skid-resistance and texture of asphalt surfacings, is studied.
