An Experiment Comparing the Performance of Roadstones in Different Bituminous Surfacings: A.30 Blackbushe, Hampshire
This report gives the results of the inspections and measurements that have been made, over the first four years, of experimental surfacings laid on Trunk Road A. 30 at Blackbushe, Hampshire in 1962. The main purpose of this experiment is to determine the relation between the polished-stone value of a number of roadstones and the resistance to skidding of different surfacings in which they constitute a major part of the exposed surface. The experimental surfacings included surface dressings, rolled asphalts, bitumen macadam and dense tar surfacings, and eight roadstones were used with polished-stone values (1965) that ranged from 49 to 75.
