Evaluation of the Accelerations in Bed Rocks during Strong Earthquake Motions
In Japan, almost all reactor buildings of nuclear power stations are constructed on the bed rocks to resist the strong earthquake motions. Therefore, the evaluation of the acceleration expected in the bed rock is very important problem to design the reactor buildings. In the paper, the authors assume that the earthquake energy is released from the so-called 'earthquake volume', which includes the hypocenter and centers of many aftershocks.
