Peak Flows of Sewage from Individual Houses
The combined Sewer Separation Project concept envisions the installation - in each building or building complex that is served by an existing combined sewerage system - of equipment that will grind building sewage and discharge it under pressure to a pressure sanitary sewerage system. Late in 1966, two special household observation stations were established. The purposes of these stations were to measure household sewage flows and characteristics, and water demands, and to monitor the performance of components that might be incorporated in prototype household grinder-punp installations for use in applications of the Project scheme. The purposes of this memorandum are to present recently reduced data on sewage flows at the two household observation stations, to use this data to estimate upper limits on pump and storage capacities for individual houses, and to examine the relationship between peak rates of sewage flow and corresponding water demand rates.
