The Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC), also known as the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Office of the Associate Administrator for Research and Development, is a Federally owned and operated laboratory. TFHRC's expert staff is dedicated addressing the problems facing the highway community today. Their work is categorized into six areas; Human Factors, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Pavements, Safety, Structures, and Support Services. These six categories encompass over 100 areas of transportation expertise and utilize more than 40 laboratories and support facilities.
