Conceptual Designs of Retaining Structures for Open Pit Backfilling
This report presents a study to determine the potential use of retaining structures in open pit backfilling. The report contains the results of research and review of an open pit mine environment, mine waste disposal, and past and current use of retaining structures. The development of specific structures, the culvert-tunnel concept, and an anchor block retaining concept are included. In addition, the cost benefit of retaining structures used for in-pit backfilled waste is presented.
