A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Report on the present state of technical knowledge about adequate thermal insulation and construction of components with floor heating. Special interest is given to effects that floor heating systems may have on adjacent components. Possible solutions are indicated, and unsolved questions are mentioned. Temperatures occuring in the ambient area of floor heating systems are surveyed and listed, they are used for a control review of the present thermal insulation for components with floor heating systems in various ways of installation. Aspects of building and construction focus on: choice of material, dimensioning, thermal insulation layers; thermal insulation; function, need and design of insulating layer covering; floor topping and the floor coverings above the topping; problems of sealing.
