The purpose of the proposed project is to provide a hurricane evacuation route across the Intracoastal Waterway on State Route La 308. The proposed project will unite the general area and community - while providing safer driving conditions and uninterrupted travel due to the construction of the fixed high level bridge. Hazardous conditions confronting marine traffic on the Intracoastal Waterway along State Route La. 308 will be eliminated by this fixed high level bridge. A negative effect is that the facility will require residential and agricultural lands. Approximately 22 acres will be required to construct this facility. There will be approximately nine (9) families, with thirty-six (36) individuals displaced by this project. (Author)
