Georgia Projects I-85-1(40)20. Troup-Meriwether Counties, and I-85-1(33)12, Troup County
Work will consist of right of way acquisition, grading, drainage, bridges and paving for 19.7 miles of four lane limited access highway and will cover two construction projects. The first 8.7 miles long, is in Troup County; the second 11.0 miles long, begins in Troup County and extends into Meriwether County. Adverse effects are of a general nature and are common to most major highway construction projects. Essentially such effects are conversions of land use, lowered groundwater table in cuts, restricted stream channels causing higher upstream water levels in times of flood, and erosion which occurs during construction despite all measures taken for prevention. After a period of three to five years, negative effects as a result of initial construction should not be in evidence.
