Test of the emergency closure gate, intake, control valves, horseshoe tunnel, stilling basin, and outlet channel for Howard Hanson Dam were conducted in a 1:25-scale model. Deformation properties of J-rubber seals for the tainter valves were determined in a 1:1-scale pressure chamber.
