An Engineer team studied the course of failure of the San Jacinto River Levee project. Initial investigation consisted of data review and site reconnaissance as basic for the field investigation. Many possible causes of Levee failure were considered. Although no evidence was found, surface erosion was a significant factor. Undersigned riprap protection would lately be subject to failure by surface erosion during larger floods. Remedial construction and application of experience to this Levee will also be applied to other projects. (fr)
