Ohio. Northeast Expressway, Melish Ave. to East of Victory Parkway, Cincinnati, Project I-71-3(31)(04), St. Project HAM-71-3.61, Hamilton County
The project is the last construction contract to be let for the completion of Interstate Route 71, connecting Louisville, Kentucky, through Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio to Cleveland, Ohio. It consists of 0.966 miles of an 8 - 12-foot wide lane limited access freeway with 10-foot wide shoulders, plus necessary interchanges, ramps and necessary local street relocations and widenings through a variable width right of way. The proposed freeway will provide fast, safe and efficient transportation for the interstate traffic now detoured onto the heavily congested Mill Creek Expressway (I-75) and for local traffic now using the local street system. An adverse effect which cannot be avoided is the need for acquiring approximately 37 acres of park and recreation land for construction purposes, some of which is wooded. This total area cannot be replaced in the immediate vicinity without removing many residences.
