The purpose of establishing safety rest areas on the Interstate System is to place an emphasis on safety, relaxation and withdrawal from high speed driving. The idea is to suggest a break in travel to the motorist to slow the pace of the motorist both physically and emotionally. The Alabama highway department knows of no adverse environmental effects which will be created by the construction of this project.
