A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Interstate System Route I-40, from Tucumcari, New Mexico, East for 14.3 Miles
The projects involve the construction of 14.3 miles of interstate highway in Quay County, New Mexico. Major environmental impacts are the loss of approximately 700 acres of irrigated farmland which will be required for right of way; displacement of residents in 5 homes within the city limits of Tucumacari, and 9 homes in rural areas adjacent to the roadway and the displacement of 6 businesses. There will be some minor deleterious effects on the eco-systems in the area adjacent to the roadway. The improved highway will provide a safer, more efficient transportation facility.
