The report deals with the Tower House District, which was once the heart of a gold mining community. The site was strategically located on the transportation hub to Northern California. Today the Tower House District is a fragile community of abandoned structures in a pastoral setting. The Tower House itself burned to the ground in 1919, leaving only the Camden House and outbuildings as what remains of this historic district. The district was settled in the early 1850's by Levi H. Tower and Charles Camden, and the objective is to commemorate and recall the pioneering activities and the way of life that existed there through the last half of the 19th century into the 20th century. The report is documented and includes a bibliography.
