Congregate Housing for Older People: An Effective Alternative. Final Report
The results of a study of the Massachusetts congregate housing program are presented. Interviews were conducted with residents, management personnel, service providers, and architects. The results are reported in the following categories: forms of congregate houses; the local community context; the boundary between development and operation; residents in transition; the congregate resident profile; congregate live and resident roles; the frailty image; critical design elements; living in the congregate; congregate housing management; the coordinator role; formal support services; cost effectiveness; and social effectiveness. A 42 - item bibliography, chapter tables, and appendixes are included.
