Reconstruction of Century Avenue, Also Known as County Trunk Highway 'M', in the City of Middleton, Dane County, Wisconsin
The project concerns the improvement of C.T.H. 'M' in Dane County from the junction of C.T.H. 'M' and U.S.H. 12 easterly for approximately 2.37 miles to the east intersection of C.T.H. 'M' and C.T.H. 'Q'. This improvement will proceed in two stages. The first stage will use the same alignment and will consist of replacing the existing two-lane facility with a dual roadway with four lanes and widening an existing bridge. Stage 2 will entail widening the existing two-lane facility to a four-lane undivided roadway, installing curb and gutter along its length, and widening an existing bridge. The purpose of the proposed project is to construct a facility designed to provide an efficient and safe route to handle the existing and future traffic in this urban area. The proposed project will affect the environment to the extent that more of the existing right of way will be used specifically for roadway purposes. It is expected only a few temporary slope easements for construction operations will be needed. During the construction process, some siltation of Pheasant Branch Creek may occur during the time the slopes are exposed to the elements. Other than this disruption of the ecosystem, no other effects are expected which will be baneful in nature.
