The package is designed to provide an introduction to the special characteristics of large and more complicated noncombustible and fire-resistive construction as they affect the fire service. The course meets selected objectives of NPQS Standards No. 1001, Level III; No. 1021, Levels I-III; and No. 1031. Primary emphasis focuses on (1) improving the fire officer's ability to ensure firefighter safety, (2) recognizing common causes and indicators of structural failure, (3) other hazards relating to building construction or contents, and (4) overall effect of a building to fire conditions.
