Fatigue Life of Bridges Under Repeated Highway Loadings
This study into the fatigue life of bridges under repeated highway loading is different than the usual fatigue research made in laboratories on made up-bridge members such as in the recently published Highway Research Board Report 102. The findings in this report are in keeping with the long time observation of the behavior under traffic of properly designed and maintained bridges. That is, that so long as the working stresses do not greatly exceed the design stresses, the fatique problem is practically non-existent for the normal life of a properly designed bridge. (BPR)
