Archaeological, Architectural, and Historical Resources Survey of 21 Mississippi River Levee Berm Items: Component 4, The New Madrid Floodway
A cultural resources survey along 66 miles of proposed levee berm construction was conducted. A total of 272 architectural and structural features was identified. None are of significance. A total of 25 historical archaeological sites were identified. Avoidance is recommended for one of these, a historical cemetery. A total of 34 prehistoric archaeological sites were identified. One is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and twelve are recommended for nomination to the Register. It is suggested that these sites be avoided.
