The project for the Colorado River Bridge Crossing of Interstate and Defense Highway 8 is located in the southwestern corner of Yuma County, Arizona. The project begins in California and crosses the Colorado River and the common boundary between Arizona and California. Total length of the project including the bridge and approaches ia approximately 3000 feet. The design and construction of this dual-span structure constitutes an important segment of Interstate and Defense Highway 8, connecting the State of Arizona with the State of California, at the Colorado River state lines. The impact will be of some concern to the Yuma Water Treatment Plant. The fact that the project will cross near the facility makes it essential to provide certain protective measures which were unnecessary in the past.
