Field Evaluation of Metallic-Coated Corrugated Steel Pipe. Construction Report
The research project evaluates the performance of galvanized, Galvalume, and Aluminized Type II pipe culverts at three different sites across Pennsylvania. The research sites are located in Armstrong County, Juniata County, and Northumberland County. Metallic coating thickness readings were taken during installation and will be taken annually for a minimum five year evaluation period. The report details the construction procedures and problems encountered during the three installations. It also lists the initial coating readings measured on the pipes and contains a statistical analysis of the data regarding whether the various coatings on the pipes met PennDOT and AASHTO specifications. PennDOT's selection criteria for corrosion protection based on pH and resistivity values are also included.
