Performance of Polymer-Coated and Bituminous-Coated-and-Paved Corrugated Steel Pipe
The project was initiated to compare polymer-coated and asphalt-paved-polymer-coated corrugated steel pipe with asphalt-coated-and-paved pipe. Beth-Cu-Loy PC, Beth-Cu-Loy PC asphalt-paved, and U.S.S. Nexon and U.S.S. Nexon asphalt-paved in 10-ft lengths were coupled with either asphalt-coated-and-paved or fully-paved control pipes. Ten test sites were installed, six cross-culverts and four storm sewers. For up to 7 years, in nonaggressive sites, changes occurring in the plain polymer and asphalt-paved-polymers were minor and did not influence protective capabilities of the coatings.
