Identifying Retrofit Projects for Federal Buildings
This document was prepared as a guide to Federal field personnel in identifying building retrofit projects with early returns on investment. The past experiences with building retrofit programs, within the Federal Government, were used as a starting point for the development of this handbook. The steps recommended for identifying viable retrofit projects include: determining building fuel usage and cost; categorizing the building by use, size, and climate of location; identifying retrofit options; and performing a comparative evaluation of the cost and efficacy of each option.
