General Management Plan, Environmental Assessment: Acadia National Park, Maine
The purpose of the Acadia National Park general management plan is to define the basic management philosophy that will guide park management decisions over the next 10 to 15 years and to provide strategies for resolving issues and achieving the identified management objectives. The Draft General Management Plan/Environmental Assessment analyzes the effects of the feasible range of alternative strategies, as required by federal regulations. The managed use alternative would retain and enhance the range of high-density to low-density recreational opportunities but would not accommodate any increase in use during the peak season. Resources would be monitored and visitor use managed to avoid unacceptable levels of impact.
