Project S-2904(101), Fayette County, Alabama
The project begins on U.S.Highway No. 43 south of the city of Winfield, Alabama, and connects with Alabama Highway No. 13 at the Fayette-Walker County Line. The length of the project is approximately 7.0 miles. Work will consist of grade, drain, base and pave, erosion control and bridge. This project will replace a narrow, poorly aligned, gravel road with steep grades. The new bridge will replace a single lane steel and timber bridge which is over 60 years old and is unsafe for the loads it is required to carry. In addition to improving the transportation quality, it is believed that further enhancement will be added to travel, schools, work, religious institutions as well as an upgrading in the quality and quantity of homes in the area. There will be no residences, business houses, nor any other structures of any consequence which will be removed or disturbed. There seems to be no significant impact on the environment.
