Bridgeton is a rapidly growing community of approximately 17,000 persons, and is located in the northwest section of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. The city's population is expected to double within the planning period. A substantial portion of the city's major streets system is under the jurisdiction of the State of Missouri. The transportation plan recommends various improvements for not only the state system, but also the supporting system of major and collector streets. The community facilities portion of the report presents an analysis of the unusual problems of the city with regard to the multiplicity of governmental jurisdictions in the city. (Author)
