Operation Flint Lock. Shot Pile Driver. Technical Director's Summary Report, Sanitized Version
This report briefly summarizes the technical results of Shot Pile Driver, a 61-kt device detonated at a depth of 1518 feet in a granite stock (Area 15) at the Nevada Test Site. The general objective of the experiment was to obtain and extend fundamental data on the behavior of lined and unlined tunnels in granite. Active and passive instruments were installed in the medium and on the structures to measure the characteristics of the stress wave and its effect on the structures.
