A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Shelby, Dekalb Street Extension, Cleveland County, Project 9.80122915, (US or SU 1509), North Carolina
The project proposes to construct a four-lane curb and gutter extension of Dekalb Street from Sumter Street to Grover Street, with an underpass of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, in Shelby, North Carolina. The proposed project will implement an essential element of the Shelby thoroughfare plan and increase traffic efficiency and safety which are lacking on existing two-lane alternate streets in the area. The project will be located through a neighborhood of substandard houses with urban renewal potential. Displacement of approximately 45 families and 1 business is expected.
