Low Temperature Cracking Resistance Characteristics of Recycled Asphalt Pavement Binder
This is the final report of the research project, entitled 'Low Temperature Cracking Resistance Characteristics of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) Binder.' This study dealt with the investigation of the rheological properties of RAP binder to evaluate the resistance to permanent deformation, fatigue cracking and low temperature cracking using the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) products, i.e., Superpave binder specification. In addition, this laboratory investigation characterized the fracture behavior and dynamic response of asphalt blended with binder extracted from RAP. Results of this laboratory investigation help the engineers understand the resistance characteristics of asphalt containing RAP binder against permanent deformation, fatigue and low temperature cracking of asphalt pavements.
