Proposed New Community of Cedar-Riverside, Minneapolis, Minnesota
The area in which the Cedar-Riverside new-town-in-town is located is less than one mile southeast of the central business district of Minneapolis, Minnesota at the intersection of three major area freeways. The development area is bounded by freeways on the south and west and by the Mississippi River on the north and east. The principal 'adverse environmental consequences that cannot be avoided' relate to air pollution and noise pollution -- the location is bounded by freeways on two sides. However, building design and siting concepts such as the use of parking structures are planned to minimize the effects of noise.
