Analysis of ruptured slug data
Rupture of uranium slugs in the operating piles currently results in significant loss in total production, and in addition represents a potential hazard to the useful life of the piles. Considerable effort is being expended to reduce the production loss and to minimize the risk to piles from this problem. This report contains a compilation of information on ruptured slugs experienced up to June 1952, with an attempt to correlate the observed rupture rates with operating and manufacturing variables. 10 figs., 12 tabs.
